Assassin’s Creed is a series that, for many people, has been stuck in a time loop for the last three years. Since the series blew up, Ubisoft’s seemed hell bent on releasing one, if not two AC titles every year – each of which seemed to do little more than change the game’s location and add a few minor tweaks to the franchise’s core open world, stealth mechanics.

 This led to a series of vanilla, good-not-great releases, like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. If you only watched the game’s launch trailer you’d be forgiven for thinking this was the case on Ubisoft’s latest AC entry; Assassin’s Creed Origins
